Surely you have already understood who I mean. Yes, the title of the article makes it clear and thus actually gives it away prematurely. These people are recruited from the ranks of the normal and ordinary citizenry. Usually this hobby is shared from generation to generation, but I have a cousin, well, more accurately, I had one, who liked to go fishing and could never explain how he got into it. No one in their family had ever fished in their lives, nor had any inclination to do so. Where it came from in him, he doesn\’t know. Every fisherman must have some relationship with nature, whether he wants to or not. I have no idea if there are even among them pigs who dirty the water and behave like the worst pickers ever. When I walk past them sometimes, I don\’t see that they are like that. But then again, it\’s true that I don\’t look at them all the time and I certainly don\’t check the place where they were after they\’ve gone.
I never knew what a fisherman like that should know and know how to do. I assumed he would come to the water, slap it on the surface somewhere and then just follow the wait and see rule. Yes, that\’s what some do, but that\’s not why they will and probably aren\’t very successful. A fisherman who really wants to catch something needs to read up on the water he is fishing. He needs to know what kind of fish he can catch there, and above all, he needs to know what bait to use. It has to be different in warm water than in cold water, and for every kind of fish too. I didn\’t know you could get a bottom map somewhere and also read the depth of some water from satellites. Well, anyone not in the field can\’t know.
I also don\’t understand well enough why anglers have limited hours to fish and have to pack it in at midnight. Other times maybe as early as 10pm. It depends on the area of course, some places you can fish non-stop. However, I have not found any reasons to do something like that.
Sometimes I\’m a bit envious, because the bumps must be beautiful. But on the other hand, what\’s stopping anyone from just sitting down by the water. Without anything.
