About 500,000 Czechs are alcoholics. However, this is only a statistic of those who have confided their addiction to a doctor, for example. Thus, the number of addicts could be dramatically higher, and it is no wonder that alcohol is called the bane of humanity. For more information on the reasons why this is said and the effectsof alcoholism, please see this article.
Why do people become alcoholics?
Addiction usually begins at a young age. Anyone who drinks alcohol for the first time takes the first step toward addiction. There are many reasons why someone drinks alcohol for the first time. For example, they are trying to blend in with their surroundings, to appear mature, or to avoid boredom.
Later, people seek alcohol as a means of happiness, a certain euphoria, relief from stress, or courage to overcome difficult situations. In short, alcohol seemingly helps one\’s life. However, the opposite is true. It is said that there is basically nothing enjoyable about drinking alcohol. And everything is just a kind of delusional feeling in the imagination. And that is not even during a nice party or a romantic dinner. In short, consuming enough alcohol to affect one\’s behavior, even if it is brief and enjoyable, is sure to ruin almost 100% of the moments that would have been completely different in a sober state of mind. This is despite the fact that the romantic dinner went according to plan and ended with beautiful sex. However, yesterday\’s feast is still fresh in my mind the next day. It can cause a certain amount of anxiety and disrupt the normal flow of a typical day. The good news, however, is that if alcohol forces you to self-reflect, you are probably not an alcoholic.
Prohibitionist?
Alcohol is not only addictive, it is dangerous. History has shown that many injuries, deaths, car accidents, and perhaps even civil unrest have occurred under the influence of alcohol. It disrupts interpersonal relationships and is the most common reason for family breakdown, second only to adultery. So, in conclusion, my advice is to avoid it as much as possible, even if it gives you a pleasant high for a little while. Nothing is lost, nothing is gained, and disastrous consequences in life are avoided.
